• Choose the 7.1 oz bag if you are covering a whole base or a larger display.
• Break the clump apart with your fingers and press it into place.
• On a permanent piece, tack it down with a little craft glue so it holds better.

For a natural look, vary the thickness as you go, piling it a little higher around stones and thinner along the edges, just as moss grows in the wild.

It helps to work in small sections. Fill the hardest spots first, such as the gaps between stones or the space right against the glass, then cover the open areas, pressing each piece down gently so it sits snugly against its neighbor. Stand back every so often to check the scene from the angle people will see it, and add a pinch more wherever soil still shows through.
