A spotlight takes one thing you love about your yard and makes it the star after dark. Aim it up a mature maple, across a stone chimney or onto a garden statue and the whole property gains depth. A single well aimed spotlight often does more for a front yard than a dozen scattered stakes. Our spotlights include adjustable ground stake heads in die cast aluminum, tempered glass tree uplights, low voltage garden spikes with or without a shade, solar models with warm white or color changing RGB light, and recessed ground uplights that sit level with the lawn.
Getting Accent Lighting Right
- Adjustable heads: A head that tilts lets you fine tune the beam after installation, which matters because trees grow and you will want to adjust the aim over the years.
- Shields and shades: A glare shield or lampshade hides the bright source from anyone walking past, so people see the lit tree and not the LED.
- Power: Low voltage spotlights give strong, consistent accent light. Solar spots work well for small shrubs in sunny locations but will be softer after cloudy days.
- Base or spike: Many styles offer a ground insert spike for soil or a flat base for mounting on decks, walls and paving.
Placement tip: Set the fixture a foot or two out from the base of a tree and angle it up into the canopy. Too close and it lights only the trunk; too far and the beam spills onto the house.
For lights that disappear into the ground, see well lights. When you need broad coverage rather than a focused beam, flood lights are the better choice.

A spotlight has a narrow beam that picks out one object, like a tree, column or sign. A flood light spreads a wide beam over a larger area, such as a driveway or back lawn. Use spotlights for mood and focus, and floods for coverage and security.
A small ornamental tree often looks good with one. A larger tree with a wide canopy usually benefits from two or three, aimed from different sides so the shape looks full and even.
They are great for holidays, parties and a splash of color on a water feature. For everyday use most people return to warm white, so models that offer both give you the most flexibility.
