They are one of the simplest upgrades for a screen setup. The bar sits on top of the monitor and aims light down at the desk, so the keyboard and papers are lit without a reflection on the display. It also frees up the space a lamp would take.
Neutral white around 3500K to 4000K helps with focus during the day and shows paper and color accurately. In the evening, a warmer or dimmer setting is easier on the eyes. Keep some room light on too, so the screen is not the only bright spot.
