Outdoor Wall Lights

The walls of your house carry more light than any other part of the exterior, so it pays to pick fixtures by the job each one has to do. This is our complete outdoor wall collection, bringing together porch sconces, up and down lights, wall washers, motion sensor security lights, solar wall lights and classic wall lanterns. Finishes lean toward black, gray and white aluminum and stainless steel, with glass, marble look and bronze accents for more traditional homes. Many styles are sold singly or in sets of two to ten, so a long facade can match from end to end. If you are not sure where to begin, the front door is the best first project for most homes.

Match the Light to the Job

• Welcome: Sconces and lanterns beside the front door, garage and back door make the house look lived in and help guests read the entry.
• Architecture: Up and down lights and wall washers throw beams across siding, stucco and stone, which adds drama to a plain facade.
• Security: Motion sensor lights and wall mounted floods switch on when someone approaches a side door, driveway or shed.
• No wiring: Solar wall lights mount anywhere the sun reaches, from fences to garden sheds, with no electrician needed.

Placement tip: Treat the front of the house as one composition. Choose a single fixture family for the door and garage, then use a quieter style on the sides and back so the entry stays the focal point.

Start with outdoor wall sconces for entries, motion sensor wall lights for security, and our front porch lighting guide for sizing help.
