Common Questions

Answered by the Nora Furnish team

About this piece

Which size fits a fence post?

The 6 by 3 inch size suits narrow fence posts, and the 10 by 5 or 12 by 6 inch sizes suit standard posts. The 16 by 8 and 24 by 12 inch sizes suit wide gate piers and brick pillars.

Solar or hardwired?

Solar suits fence posts far from the house, because there is no cable to run along the fence. Hardwired suits posts close to the house where an electrician can run power.

What is it made of?

It is made from stainless steel with an acrylic diffuser that softens the light. Slight variation in color and finish between units is normal on this kind of outdoor fixture.

Does this require hardwiring or does it plug in?

The Hardwired version connects to your household wiring, while the Solar version charges by daylight and needs no wiring. Choose the one you want in the Power Supply option.

Can the height be customized for high ceilings?

It does not hang on a cord, chain or rod, so there is no drop to set. The full measurements are in the Specifications section on this page.

Can you tell me the diameter of the shade?

The shade diameter is listed in the product specifications tab on the listing. That said, if you message us with your order or SKU number we're happy to confirm the exact measurement before you purchase.

Is there a warranty on this light?

No separate warranty is listed for this light. For damaged or faulty items, see Shipping & Returns on this page, or email info@norafurnish.com.

What voltage does this fixture run on? Is it compatible with US 110V?

Yes, all of our fixtures are rated for standard US 110 to 120V. They are not dual-voltage unless the listing specifically states that.

Are the colors/finishes accurate to the photos?

We work hard to photograph our fixtures in accurate, natural lighting. The finish color in the photos is a close representation of what you'll receive. Monitor calibration can vary, but we've found the vast majority of customers are happy with the match. If color accuracy is critical, our return policy gives you peace of mind.

Shipping, returns and help

Is shipping free?

Yes. Standard shipping is free on every order delivered within the United States, with no minimum purchase.

What is your return policy?

You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original condition and in the original packaging. Email info@norafurnish.com before sending anything back.

What if it arrives damaged or faulty?

We send a replacement at no charge, and the return costs you nothing. Email your order number and a photo of the problem to info@norafurnish.com.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return arrives and is approved, the refund usually shows on your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.

Is there a discount when I buy more than one item?

Yes. Add 2 items to your cart and you save 10%, add 3 or more and you save 15%. It applies automatically, no code needed, and cannot be combined with other discount codes.

Do I need an electrician?

Hardwired fixtures such as chandeliers, pendants, flush mounts and wall sconces connect to your home wiring, so we recommend a licensed electrician for those. Plug in, battery, solar and rechargeable lights need no wiring.

Can I order it in another size or finish?

Every size and finish available is listed in the options above. For help finding the closest match in the catalog, email info@norafurnish.com.

How do I reach you?

Email info@norafurnish.com. The team works Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST), and replies within 1 to 2 business days.

10 questions

QWhich size fits a fence post?

NORA FURNISH

The 6 by 3 inch size suits narrow fence posts, and the 10 by 5 or 12 by 6 inch sizes suit standard posts. The 16 by 8 and 24 by 12 inch sizes suit wide gate piers and brick pillars.

QSolar or hardwired?

NORA FURNISH

Solar suits fence posts far from the house, because there is no cable to run along the fence. Hardwired suits posts close to the house where an electrician can run power.

QWhat is it made of?

NORA FURNISH

It is made from stainless steel with an acrylic diffuser that softens the light. Slight variation in color and finish between units is normal on this kind of outdoor fixture.

QWhat sizes are available?

NORA FURNISH

Five sizes, listed as 6 W x 3 H, 10 W x 5 H, 12 W x 6 H, 16 W x 8 H and 24 W x 12 H inches. The exact measurements for each size are in the Dimensions section of this page.

QWhat color is the light?

NORA FURNISH

The light is warm, between 2700K and 3999K. That warm glow suits wood fences, stone walls and planting, and makes a garden feel welcoming at night.

QHow does the solar version charge?

NORA FURNISH

It charges from daylight and lights up in the evening. Keep the solar panel clear of dust and leaves, and choose posts that get good light during the day.

QHow many can I order?

NORA FURNISH

It is sold singly or in sets of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 or 30, so every post along a fence line can have a matching cap light.

QCan I use it on a deck railing?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. The smaller sizes suit deck and railing posts. Choose the size closest to the width of the post top so the cap sits neatly and looks built in.

QCan I mix sizes?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. Many people use a smaller size on fence posts and a larger size on the gate piers, keeping one family of lights across the whole boundary.

QDoes the hardwired version need an electrician?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. A hardwired post light connects to your power supply, so an electrician should run the cable and make the connection with the power switched off at the breaker.

I recommend this product

Beautiful quality

True to the listing photos and colors. It throws such a soft, even light. Heavier and more substantial than I expected, in a good way. Transformed our bedroom. Priced really fairly for what you get. Already thinking about ordering another.

Lovely, close to perfect

The light is warm and inviting, not harsh at all. You can tell it's well made the moment you unbox it. Looks amazing on the patio at night. Minor wish-list item on the color, but really happy overall.
