At 40cm, the flexible arm on this lamp reaches far enough to clear a stack of books or a phone charging on a nightstand. Being rechargeable removes the need for an outlet near the mounting point, which opens up wall placement options a corded lamp could not use. The flexible neck holds its bend, so once the beam is aimed at a book or a desk surface it stays there through normal use.
