Choosing the output and supply

Read the supply option carefully, because the low voltage and mains versions are not interchangeable once ordered.

• Choose DC12V if there is a low voltage circuit with a transformer.
• Choose AC85 to 265V to run from mains wiring.
• Choose 3W or 5W for narrow features and path edges.
• Choose 10W or 15W for broad walls and larger trees.

The low voltage version needs a transformer on the circuit. Plan the cut hole against the wattage before ordering, since each output has its own diameter, and have an electrician make the connection with the power off at the breaker.

To graze a wall, set the light close to the base so the beam rises across the surface and picks out its texture. For a tree, place it a short distance from the trunk.

A row of lights along the base of a long wall creates a calm rhythm of light. Use the same output and color for each one, and space them evenly so the pools of light overlap slightly.

For care, wipe the light with a soft, dry cloth and keep the lens clear of soil and leaf litter. Do not pressure wash directly at the fitting. Slight color variation between screens and the finish in person is normal.

Gravel beds and decking both suit this light well. In gravel, it sits among the stones with only the steel ring showing; in decking, it can be set into a board to wash the wall beside the deck.

Choosing the output is easier with the wall in front of you. Measure how wide and how tall the surface is: a narrow pillar or a single column needs only a 3W or 5W light, while a long rendered wall or a large tree needs the 10W or 15W to reach the top. For a very long wall, several lights at the same output work better than one bright one.

Warm white is kind to brick and stone, bringing out their color, while natural white keeps a pale rendered wall looking clean and fresh after dark.
