Common Questions

Answered by the Nora Furnish team

About this piece

Where should I position it?

Line it up with the edge of a counter, a hallway or a bed rather than the middle of the ceiling. A bar reads as deliberate only when it follows something, so align it with the feature it lights.

Which length should I choose?

It comes at 11.8, 15.7 or 19.7 inches. Choose the length that matches how much of the counter, hallway or table you want to cover. Lengths are measured by hand, so allow slight variation.

How do I make sure it hangs straight?

Hold the bar up and mark both screw points before drilling. A long bar shows any lean once it is fixed, so measuring carefully before drilling keeps it straight.

Shipping, returns and help

Is shipping free?

Yes. Standard shipping is free on every order delivered within the United States, with no minimum purchase.

What is your return policy?

You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original condition and in the original packaging. Email info@norafurnish.com before sending anything back.

What if it arrives damaged or faulty?

We send a replacement at no charge, and the return costs you nothing. Email your order number and a photo of the problem to info@norafurnish.com.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return arrives and is approved, the refund usually shows on your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.

Is there a discount when I buy more than one item?

Yes. Add 2 items to your cart and you save 10%, add 3 or more and you save 15%. It applies automatically, no code needed, and cannot be combined with other discount codes.

Do I need an electrician?

Hardwired fixtures such as chandeliers, pendants, flush mounts and wall sconces connect to your home wiring, so we recommend a licensed electrician for those. Plug in, battery, solar and rechargeable lights need no wiring.

Can I order it in another size or finish?

Every size and finish available is listed in the options above. For help finding the closest match in the catalog, email info@norafurnish.com.

How do I reach you?

Email info@norafurnish.com. The team works Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST), and replies within 1 to 2 business days.

10 questions

QWhere should I position it?

NORA FURNISH

Line it up with the edge of a counter, a hallway or a bed rather than the middle of the ceiling. A bar reads as deliberate only when it follows something, so align it with the feature it lights.

QWhich length should I choose?

NORA FURNISH

It comes at 11.8, 15.7 or 19.7 inches. Choose the length that matches how much of the counter, hallway or table you want to cover. Lengths are measured by hand, so allow slight variation.

QHow do I make sure it hangs straight?

NORA FURNISH

Hold the bar up and mark both screw points before drilling. A long bar shows any lean once it is fixed, so measuring carefully before drilling keeps it straight.

QWhat lengths are available?

NORA FURNISH

The bar comes in 11.8, 15.7 and 19.7 inch lengths, in black or white. Lengths are measured by hand, so allow slight variation. Choose the length that matches the counter, hallway or table below it.

QWhat is it made of?

NORA FURNISH

It has an aluminum body with an acrylic diffuser. The diffuser spreads the light into a smooth, even strip along the bar instead of showing a harsh point of light.

QIs it good for a kitchen?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. Aligned with the edge of a counter, it gives even, glare free light where you work. Position it so the light falls in front of you rather than behind your head.

QWhich finish should I choose?

NORA FURNISH

Black recedes into a darker ceiling or stands out as a crisp line against a white one. White disappears into a lighter ceiling so only the strip of light is noticed.

QCan I use it in a hallway?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. Run it along the length of the hallway, following the walls. Because it sits flat against the ceiling, it keeps even a low hallway clear and uncluttered.

QHow is it installed?

NORA FURNISH

It connects to the household wiring in the ceiling. Turn off the breaker at the panel, check there is a junction box, and have an electrician run wiring if there is none. Mark both screw points before drilling.

QDoes it hang down from the ceiling?

NORA FURNISH

No. The slim bar mounts flat against the ceiling rather than hanging down, so it suits rooms with lower ceilings and spaces where a pendant would be in the way.

Incredibly happy

This exceeded my expectations in every way. The packaging was excellent — no damage at all — and it's beautifully made. The finish is consistent and premium-looking. I've had it for about three months and it still looks brand new. Very happy customer.

Ordered two by accident

Accidentally placed the order twice and now I have two. That's my fault — the website worked fine, I just double-clicked. The product itself is actually great, just dealing with returning the extra.

Nice quality for the price

Looks really nice in our home. The design is attractive and the quality is good for the price. Shipping was fast and packaging was solid. Would have given 5 stars but the color was very slightly different from the photos.

Not bad at all

Nice piece. The design is elegant and the quality is better than I expected at this price. One of the pieces had a very small scuff in the finish but honestly you'd never notice once it's installed. Looks great in our space.
