About the Rigging
Key Features
- Natural hemp rope for a retro look
- Solar or battery power
- Hangs over patios and pergolas
- Single string or sets of up to 10
Hemp Rope String Lights hang overhead, so the light comes from above the space instead of from the ground, which changes how a patio feels once it gets dark. They are available solar powered or battery powered; choose the version above. The solar version charges through the day and switches itself on at dusk, and the battery version needs no panel and no outlet. Built from hemp rope and sealed for permanent outdoor use. Common Questions
Answered by the Nora Furnish team
About this piece
What is the rope made of?
It is made from hemp rope, which gives the string a natural, rustic texture. Slight variation in color and finish between units is normal, since hemp is a natural fiber.
Which length should I choose?
The 16.4 foot string suits a balcony rail, a small porch or a single fence panel. The 32.8 foot string covers a pergola, a long fence or the edge of a deck in one run.
Should I choose solar or battery?
Solar charges by daylight and needs no outlet, so it suits a sunny garden. Battery suits a shaded spot or a covered porch where a panel would not get enough direct sun.
Shipping, returns and help
Is shipping free?
Yes. Standard shipping is free on every order delivered within the United States, with no minimum purchase.
What is your return policy?
You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original condition and in the original packaging. Email info@norafurnish.com before sending anything back.
What if it arrives damaged or faulty?
We send a replacement at no charge, and the return costs you nothing. Email your order number and a photo of the problem to info@norafurnish.com.
When will I receive my refund?
Once your return arrives and is approved, the refund usually shows on your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.
Is there a discount when I buy more than one item?
Yes. Add 2 items to your cart and you save 10%, add 3 or more and you save 15%. It applies automatically, no code needed, and cannot be combined with other discount codes.
Do I need an electrician?
Hardwired fixtures such as chandeliers, pendants, flush mounts and wall sconces connect to your home wiring, so we recommend a licensed electrician for those. Plug in, battery, solar and rechargeable lights need no wiring.
Can I order it in another size or finish?
Every size and finish available is listed in the options above. For help finding the closest match in the catalog, email info@norafurnish.com.
How do I reach you?
Email info@norafurnish.com. The team works Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST), and replies within 1 to 2 business days.

Customer Reviews
QWhat is the rope made of?
NORA FURNISH
It is made from hemp rope, which gives the string a natural, rustic texture. Slight variation in color and finish between units is normal, since hemp is a natural fiber.
QWhich length should I choose?
NORA FURNISH
The 16.4 foot string suits a balcony rail, a small porch or a single fence panel. The 32.8 foot string covers a pergola, a long fence or the edge of a deck in one run.
QShould I choose solar or battery?
NORA FURNISH
Solar charges by daylight and needs no outlet, so it suits a sunny garden. Battery suits a shaded spot or a covered porch where a panel would not get enough direct sun.
QDoes the rope look good when the lights are off?
NORA FURNISH
Yes, and that is the point of it. The hemp rope has a natural, rustic texture, so it looks like a deliberate detail on a fence, pergola or porch in daylight rather than a plain electrical cable.
QWhere should the solar panel go?
NORA FURNISH
Place it where it gets direct sun for most of the day, away from the shade of trees, walls and roof overhangs. Keep it free of dust and leaves so it charges fully during the day.
QWhen is the battery version the better choice?
NORA FURNISH
Choose battery for a covered porch, a shaded corner or a balcony that gets little direct sun. It needs no panel and no outlet, so it hangs anywhere the string can reach.
QHow long is each string?
NORA FURNISH
Each string is 16.4 feet or 32.8 feet long. Measure the run between fixing points, allow a little extra for a gentle sag, and choose the length that covers it in one piece.
QHow many strings come in a set?
NORA FURNISH
It is sold singly or in sets of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10, and the quantity you choose is the number of strings shipped. Every string in a set comes in the length you select.
QWhich garden styles does it suit?
NORA FURNISH
It suits farmhouse, rustic and vintage styles best, and it looks especially good against natural timber. It also adds warmth to a modern patio with wooden furniture or planters.
QIs mounting hardware included?
NORA FURNISH
Yes. All required mounting hardware and instructions are included, so you can hang the string along a fence, a rail or a pergola beam without buying extra fixings.
