About the Inlay

Key Features

Flexible strip embeds into stair treads
Flat or 3 sides lighting model
Warm, neutral or cold white light
Sealed for outdoor steps and decks

Embedded LED Strip Light gives a continuous line of light rather than a row of separate points, which is what makes a step or a deck edge read cleanly at night. It is wired in rather than solar, so the output stays the same through winter and on overcast days. Sealed for permanent outdoor use. Several sizes are offered, so it can be matched to a step, deck, railing or eave rather than forced to fit.

Common Questions

Answered by the Nora Furnish team

About this piece

Which length do I need?

Measure the full run you want to light, including every tread. The strip comes in 10, 16 and 33 foot lengths, so a short flight of garden steps or a long staircase can be covered in one order.

What is the difference between Flat and 3 Sides?

Flat glows from the top face, which suits a strip set into a groove in the tread. 3 Sides glows from three faces, giving a wider spread that suits a strip mounted under a step nose or along an edge.

How slim is it?

The strip has a 0.39 by 0.39 inch cross section. That slim profile lets it sit in a narrow groove or tuck under a tread nose, so the line of light shows while the strip stays discreet.

How do I clean this light fixture?

Turn off the power and let it cool first. Dust the exterior with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. For fingerprints on metal or glass parts, a lightly damp microfiber cloth works well. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that may damage the finish.

Can the height be customized for high ceilings?

It does not hang on a cord, chain or rod, so there is no drop to set. The full measurements are in the Specifications section on this page.

Can I use LED bulbs with this fixture?

The LED is built in, so it does not take bulbs at all and there is nothing to replace.

Is this compatible with smart bulbs like Philips Hue?

The LED is built in, so it does not take a smart bulb.

What type of bulb does this take? Is it included?

The LED is built in, so it does not take bulbs at all and there is nothing to replace.

Is there a warranty on this light?

No separate warranty is listed for this light. For damaged or faulty items, see Shipping & Returns on this page, or email info@norafurnish.com.

Shipping, returns and help

Is shipping free?

Yes. Standard shipping is free on every order delivered within the United States, with no minimum purchase.

What is your return policy?

You can request a return within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original condition and in the original packaging. Email info@norafurnish.com before sending anything back.

What if it arrives damaged or faulty?

We send a replacement at no charge, and the return costs you nothing. Email your order number and a photo of the problem to info@norafurnish.com.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return arrives and is approved, the refund usually shows on your original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.

Is there a discount when I buy more than one item?

Yes. Add 2 items to your cart and you save 10%, add 3 or more and you save 15%. It applies automatically, no code needed, and cannot be combined with other discount codes.

Do I need an electrician?

Hardwired fixtures such as chandeliers, pendants, flush mounts and wall sconces connect to your home wiring, so we recommend a licensed electrician for those. Plug in, battery, solar and rechargeable lights need no wiring.

Can I order it in another size or finish?

Every size and finish available is listed in the options above. For help finding the closest match in the catalog, email info@norafurnish.com.

How do I reach you?

Email info@norafurnish.com. The team works Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST), and replies within 1 to 2 business days.

10 questions

QWhich length do I need?

NORA FURNISH

Measure the full run you want to light, including every tread. The strip comes in 10, 16 and 33 foot lengths, so a short flight of garden steps or a long staircase can be covered in one order.

QWhat is the difference between Flat and 3 Sides?

NORA FURNISH

Flat glows from the top face, which suits a strip set into a groove in the tread. 3 Sides glows from three faces, giving a wider spread that suits a strip mounted under a step nose or along an edge.

QHow slim is it?

NORA FURNISH

The strip has a 0.39 by 0.39 inch cross section. That slim profile lets it sit in a narrow groove or tuck under a tread nose, so the line of light shows while the strip stays discreet.

QWhat is it made of?

NORA FURNISH

It is made from silicone, which keeps the strip flexible and diffuses the light into a smooth, even line. Slight variation in color and finish between units is normal.

QCan it go into a stone step?

NORA FURNISH

Yes, if a groove can be cut into the tread. Plan the groove with an installer so the strip sits flush. Warm White looks especially good on stone, bringing out its texture.

QWhich light color should I choose?

NORA FURNISH

Warm White suits timber, stone and relaxed gardens. Neutral White is a balanced middle ground, and Cold White suits concrete, metal and crisp modern designs.

QDoes it come with mounting hardware?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. All required mounting hardware and instructions are included. Plan the full layout and the power route carefully before fixing the strip to any step or tread.

QCan I light a deck edge too?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. The same strip can run along the perimeter of a deck to show where it ends. The 3 Sides model gives the widest glow along an edge.

QIs it good for porch steps?

NORA FURNISH

Yes. A line of light on each porch step makes the approach to the front door safer and more welcoming at night, especially in Warm White.

QHow wide is the strip?

NORA FURNISH

The strip has a 0.39 by 0.39 inch cross section, slim enough to sit in a narrow groove or tuck under the overhang of a step nose.
