Planning light for an office

• Even light over desks: Linear fixtures spread light along a row of desks, which avoids the bright and dark patches that tire eyes.
• Neutral white for work: Around 3500K to 4000K keeps screens and paper easy to read through the day.
• Task light at each seat: A desk lamp or monitor light bar lets each person set their own level.
• Warmer light where people gather: Meeting rooms, reception and break areas feel better with softer, warmer light.

Cutting glare and dark corners

Glare is the most common complaint in any office. Keep bare bulbs out of sight lines, choose diffused shades over desks, and light the walls as well as the floor so the room feels open rather than gloomy. Hallways, kitchens and reception areas deserve the same care, since that is where visitors form a first impression and where the team relaxes between tasks.
