The frosted globe is the reason this works beside a bed. A bare bulb at eye level is unpleasant to lie next to, and a glass globe spreads the same light into something soft enough to read under. The arm holds it far enough off the wall that you get light on the page rather than on the plaster.
Metal arm and back plate with a frosted glass globe shade. Slight colour variations are natural.
Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Let the glass cool before cleaning it.
