What makes the moon wall light stand out

The relief surface is what makes it convincing. Craters and seas are molded into the resin, so when the light comes on the raised and sunken areas glow at different strengths, just as the real moon does on a clear night.

The glow is gentle and even. Light spreads through the whole face of the sphere and spills softly onto the wall around it, so it lights the space without a harsh beam or a visible bulb.

• Choose the 11.8 or 15.8 inch moon when it will be the main feature of a wall.
• Hang it at eye level or a little above so the relief surface can be seen.
• Hardwired versions need a junction box, so plan the wiring with an electrician. For solar, set the panel where it gets direct sun.

Use warm white elsewhere. The moon glows at 3000K, and matching the other lights keeps the scene soft and cohesive.

Give it a clear wall. A moon reads best with space around it, so avoid crowding it with other fixtures or climbing plants.

Care is simple. Switch a hardwired moon off and let it cool, then wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and dust the craters with a soft brush. On the solar version, wipe the panel now and then so it charges well.
