    Why This Is Special

    Every hour between seven in the morning and nine at night, the front window opens and the bird calls out the hour, once for each hour that has passed. The pendulum keeps a visible rhythm below the face, which gives the clock motion instead of sitting static on the wall. It runs on three batteries, not included, and a single adjust button on the back sets both the time and the hourly call at once. The shell is molded ABS plastic in blue, green, or white, light enough that the mounting hardware stays minimal. It works as a genuine novelty piece for a kitchen or playroom, not just a clock that happens to look like a cuckoo clock.

    A watch with a very cute design. The bird leaves its home in a wonderful way, adding a lot of beauty, charm, and interest to the interior. Highly recommended. In terms of the mechanism, it's quite noisy; if you're in a quiet room, you can hear it, but if there's TV noise, you can't hear it. The volume of the cuckoo sound can be adjusted using a button on the back.

    It's a good clock, but I'll warn you. The clock mechanism has a durability of one year. After that, the system that makes the dry contact to give the cuckoo command breaks down, and over time the hour mechanism fails. It's a shame, because the cuckoo system continues to work.

    We appreciate the honest heads up about the clock mechanism after a year of use, and we are sorry the hour function started to fail. A clock should keep running well much longer than that.     Works great, arrived undamaged. Instructions not very good! I set the time before installing the batteries, by moving the minute hand round a lot. Then install batteries and press the 'reset' button until the cuckoo has signalled the correct hour, so if the time is 3:45pm then press reset 10 times (don't wait for the chimes to sound before pressing again) to chime 3 times and all done.

    Great instructions, although it seems like a toy. The only thing it says is not to move the hands with your hand!, and how do I move them if it doesn't come with tools to move them!.. I set the tone by moving the hands and then adjusted the clock.

    The cuckoo doesn't always leave the house because the window doesn't always open. In my case, when it leaves, it doesn't open its wings as advertised. The cuckoo's mechanism doesn't work. Don't buy it if you don't want to be disappointed.
