Being a plug in fitting is the practical part, because it goes up in a rented room or a dorm without an electrician and without touching the wiring. A fabric shade softens the light in a way a metal or glass one does not, which suits a bedside where a hard edged beam would be unwelcome. The arm folds back against the wall when the light is not needed, so it does not crowd a narrow headboard wall. Linen, brown and white each sit differently against bedding rather than fighting it.

Made from iron with a fabric shade, offered in linen, brown or white. Slight variation in the fabric weave and colour between pieces is normal.
Dust the fabric shade with a soft brush or a lint roller rather than a damp cloth. Wipe the metal arm with a soft, dry cloth. Switch the power off and unplug it before cleaning or changing the bulb.
One wall sconce is included per order with a bulb fitted, the mounting hardware and a cord with an inline switch, in the shade colour you select. It plugs into an ordinary outlet, so no wiring work is needed and no electrician has to be called. The arm folds at two points and the shade tilts, both set by hand. It is not dimmable, so do not run it through a dimmer plug. All required hardware and assembly instructions are included.
