Why This Is Special
The vertical and horizontal versions are not just a style choice: one suits a narrow pier or post and the other a wide riser, and picking the wrong orientation is the usual reason a recessed light looks wrong once it is in. Around 300 to 400 lumens is right for a step, bright enough to read the edge without lighting the whole garden. Recessing keeps the wall face clean with nothing to catch a shoulder in a narrow stairway. A white diffuser spreads the light evenly across the tread.
The vertical version measures 4.33 inches wide, 6.69 inches deep and 3.54 inches high. The horizontal version measures 6.69 inches wide, 4.33 inches deep and 3.54 inches high. Both weigh 1.19 lb.
Made from aluminum with a black finish and a white polycarbonate diffuser. Slight variation in finish between pieces is normal.
Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the diffuser, which scratches. Keep the lens clear of grit so the tread stays lit.
What ships depends on the set you select, a single light or a set of two, four, six, eight or ten, in the orientation you choose. Read that option carefully, because the vertical and horizontal versions need differently shaped recesses and cannot be swapped once the wall is cut. The LED is built in and puts out roughly 300 to 400 lumens, so no separate bulb is bought and none is replaced later. It is hardwired and should be fitted by an electrician with the power off at the breaker. It is sealed to IP65 against dust and rain.
