One ceiling light is included in the ball size you select, 3.1, 5.5, 7.9 or 9.8 inches across. The glass ball mounts directly against the ceiling rather than hanging on a rod or a chain. Sizes are measured by hand, so allow slight variation.
It connects to the household wiring in the ceiling rather than plugging in, so turn off the breaker before you start and confirm there is a junction box at the point you have chosen; an electrician will need to run wiring if there is none. Take the glass off before you wire the fixture and put it back on last, since it is the part most easily broken during installation. Size it to the room: the 3.1 and 5.5 inch balls read as an accent over a hallway or a closet, while the 7.9 and 9.8 inch balls carry a bedroom or a small dining area.
