This is a hardwired fixture, so it connects to the wiring in your ceiling rather than plugging in. Turn the power off at the breaker, fix the plate to the ceiling box, connect the wires and lift the body onto the plate. Match the diameter to the room rather than to the ceiling box: the smallest suits a closet, hallway or small bathroom, the middle sizes a bedroom, and the largest a living room. Because it mounts flush against the ceiling, it suits low ceilings and rooms where a hanging fixture would be in the way. Wipe the diffuser with a soft dry cloth once it is cool.
